YOUR FREE REAL-LIFE GUIDE
Have the housemate conversation early
Practical exerciseTurn unspoken expectations into a shared plan.
Talk before friction grows
Discuss cleaning, guests, quiet time, shared food and bill dates. People can have different routines without either person being wrong.
Make responsibilities specific
Agree who does what and when you will review it. A friendly house agreement does not change the legal responsibilities in a tenancy or bill contract.
Revisit the plan
Describe a problem without labelling the person. Make a specific request, hear their response and agree a manageable change. Ask for support if you do not feel safe having the conversation.
Watch it. Practise it. See what stuck.
